The technology generational policy problem

A recent article in wired magazine describes some of President Oboma's plans to reach out and touch the American people using technology. I love the idea. I don't watch the news nor do I listen to it on the Radio. I might see a presidential news release once in a while if I'm lucky. I usually get my news online or I'll watch the release later on youtube or a news site. Wired magazine goes on to describe the desire for Americans to provide feedback on this new format. I'm afraid however that the majority of people that would take advantage of this new format will be young people. A bad thing if this is the only format that Oboma uses to communicate and provide feedback. A great idea if he uses it to reach out to the younger generation which in votes has been historically silent. It's not that they don't care, it's that no one speaks their langauge. Well now someone does and now it's time to listen. If you don't like what you hear then get your Grandma online.

Presidential Debate

My take on the presidential debate. 3 main things.

   1. Obama's statement on abortion as a morality issue
   2. Partial Birth Abortion and the health of the mother
   3. Education

Obama's statement on abortion as a morality issue
Abortion is only a morality issue if you value life from conception. If you don't value life from conception then it's clearly not a morality issue. If you admit it's a morality issue and pro-abortion you're either a liar or insane. I thought it odd that Obama would say something like that. Which brings me to my next point.

Partial Birth Abortion and the health of the mother
Obama said that he would only support partial birth abortion if the health of the mother was on the line.  Do people really not know what partial birth abortion mean? Do they not know what it does? Does Obama not really know what it does? The health of the mother has nothing to do with a partial birth abortion. You practically have to hold the baby in the mother to perform the abortion. The best thing for the health of the mother at that point is to let the last half of the baby out.

Education
The very structure of education is flawed. Based on a 9-5-factory shift. We're no longer in the industrial boom. We're in the technology generation. Why sit in a class while someone lectures you spending a ton of money that will take you years to pay off when you could be on the job learning. Of course you learn better by doing. So why do we put off the best way of learning in the "name" of education? We spend a lot of money on education to get jobs that are often in fields unrelated to the degree or are able to pay off in the jobs they get. I'm all for putting in time for learning. Education is essential; I disagree with how we do it.
